Real-time Delphi software

Real-Time Delphi software for faster expert consensus

Experts answer, see the group result immediately and revise. The rounds happen inside one survey, consensus is measured per statement, and the results are ready for the methods chapter.

How a real-time Delphi works

The feedback loop runs inside the survey

In a classic Delphi you collect a round, analyse it, write a feedback document and launch the next round. In a real-time Delphi that loop happens for every statement, automatically, for as long as the survey is open.

1

Answer

The expert rates a statement on the scale you defined and can add a comment explaining the rating.

2

See the group result

Right after submitting, the expert sees the current group distribution, the median and the comments of the other experts.

3

Revise

The expert can change the rating at any time while the survey is open. Every revision updates the group result for everyone.

What you get

Built for the real-time format, not adapted to it

Real-time Delphi participant view: own answer next to the group’s answers so far, with the option to revise

One survey instead of three rounds

The feedback loop that normally happens between rounds runs inside the survey. You stop preparing feedback documents and relaunching questionnaires.

Analysis view with consensus statistics per statement

Consensus tracked while the survey runs

Median, interquartile range, percentage agreement and convergence are computed per statement as responses arrive, against the thresholds you set per scale.

Durvey survey editor with statements and rating scales

Pre-phase, then main phase

Collect open input or pilot the questionnaire with a small group first, then switch the same project to the main phase for the full panel.

Participant management with tag groups and invitation status

Progress and reminders built in

Individual links show who has answered and who has revised. Invitation and reminder emails are sent from the project. Participants can also stay fully anonymous.

Real-time or multi-round

Pick the format per study, not per tool

Durvey runs both formats. The choice depends on panel size, timeline and how much control you want over the feedback.

What researchers say about real-time Delphi

"Durvey.org has become an important part of our teaching and research. Its intuitive Delphi setup and immediate reporting help students move quickly from theory to practice while maintaining strong methodological standards."

"Running a real-time Delphi study with Durvey.org is remarkably smooth. Everything updates in real time, which saves a significant amount of time and lets me focus on the research instead of administration."

"What I value most about Durvey.org is the automated statistical analysis and reporting. It generated clear, well-structured results across Delphi rounds without manual data handling. This saved a significant amount of time and helped me move faster from data collection to publication."

Questions researchers ask

Before you start

What is a real-time Delphi?

A Delphi variant in which the iteration happens inside one survey: experts see the aggregated group result immediately after answering and can revise their rating for as long as the survey is open. It was introduced by Gordon and Pease in 2006 as a "round-less" Delphi and has since been used across foresight, healthcare and management research.

Real-time vs. multi-round in the Academy →

Is a real-time Delphi accepted in peer review?

Yes, provided you justify the variant and report it. CREDES asks you to state which Delphi variant you used and why. Durvey exports the per-statement statistics so you can show how agreement developed during the survey window.

CREDES reporting guide →

When do I close the survey?

When the statements you care about have reached your consensus threshold and the distribution has stopped moving, or when your announced deadline is reached. Durvey shows both per statement, so you can decide on evidence rather than on a fixed number of rounds.

How consensus is measured →

Can I still run classic rounds?

Yes. The same project can run as a multi-round Delphi, where results stay hidden until you close a round. Many studies combine the two: a classic open first round, then a real-time rating phase.
